"I have visited the "Roadhouse" 3-4 times in the past and have found the food, beer and service average to above average in quality. I'll admit however, it has been a year or so since I have been to the Roadhouse, and boy what a difference a year has made! Tonight I received the poorest service I have ever experienced in any brewpub - and trust me, I've seen my share of brewpubs! We literally could not get ourselves waited on. We sat at one of the many outdoor tables and were passed by the service staff so many times I lost count. We went inside the restaurant TWICE to purchase pitchers of beer and lemonade and let the wait staff know that we were among the many people who were coming and going and being served out on the patio - to no avail. Finally, when our order was taken, after being seated for 75 minutes, we were offered to have our meal "comped" by the server for being snubbed for over an hour. We accepted graciously, yet when we were ready to leave, we were promptly provided with a bill for the full meal. The bill included a pizza that was ordered and then never received. We also ordered a $12 pitcher of the Kolsch. I was expecting it to be a nice summer beer, clean and brilliant in its appearance as any well-made Kolsch should be. When it arrived at the table, it looked like they had mixed milk with the beer. It was terribly cloudy from the yeast still in suspension. Definately this beer was not ready to be kegged and served! Now, I suppose if McMenamin's were brewing hybrid or experimental beers, they could at least let the paying customer know that the beer they are ordering is prepared using hedonistic brewing methods, resulting in an unrecognizable goop not to any particular beer style. For the unaccustomed, it's like ordering a Coke and getting a Dr. Pepper for crying out loud. And, I can't stand Dr. Pepper! The worst part of the whole experience was that the manager repeatedly defended the poor service we receieved, all the while saying she was sorry we felt we had received poor service. In my book, that is no appology at all. "Oh, I'm sorry sir, that you think the red car that you purchased that is really orange, is orange." What craziness! I cannot recommend this place to anyone as long as it is being managed by such a strange crew. McMenamin's, please clean up your act, and clean up your beer! Geez...."
